The Smoke Talk
The focus of this project is to explore how products can carry cultural information instead of words and languages to help people communicate their cultural background and ultimately achieve the goal of communicating culture through products.
The concept is to design a pair of incense holders inspired by traditional elder figures. An elderly Chinese man in a traditional raincoat and bamboo hat, sitting face to face with an elderly first nation man in a traditional patterned blanket, and the smoke of incense comes from their mouths as if they were sitting down for a small talk on a cold day. The elder images and the respect for the elder are the common ground in all cultures. I believe this concept will eventually be replicated in other cultures as a series that represents multi-cultural communication.
The "Jeff"
The inspiration for this product comes from observation of the people around the designer. Whether in winter or summer, people always put a lot of small items in their pockets: keys, wallets, coins, shopping receipts, etc. When
they get home, these small items always need a temporary storage place before they are put into a new coat pocket or bag. After observation, designers and many of her friends' behaviour is to turn out their pockets and pile those items on the porch table or shoe cabinet. Designing an ergonomic and aesthetic container for this daily routine has become the motivation of this project.
5G Small Cell for Rogers
The customizable, detachable modular design for 28GHZ small cells.
Innovative detachable modules with a unifying aesthetic design solution for the small cell pole. The modules can be assembled in various functions, colours or patterns according to particular use scenarios and surround environmental branding. This approach provides beneficial customizable solutions for the deployment.
